Sponsorship: UEFA appoints The Marketing Store as official supplier

UEFA has appointed global brand activation agency, The Marketing Store, as the Preferred Premium Supplier for the UEFA EUROTOP. The programme includes four world-class football events, including the UEFA EURO 2008(tm) (which will be held in Austria & Switzerland), the UEFA European Women's Football Championship, the UEFA European Under-21 Championships and the UEFA European Futsal Championship.

The appointment kick-starts the launch of a new London based division of The Marketing Store, which specialises in Sports Marketing and Sports Event Merchandising.

February 2007 will see the launch of an on-line catalogue, which will offer sponsors access to promotional merchandise branded with the UEFA EURO 2008TM logo. The site will also offer access to "virtual VIP sponsors lounges" which will protect confidentiality while encouraging information sharing between territories.

"For specific premium briefs we threw a challenge to our innovation team who have been working on new technologies to bring our clients the ultimate premium that will resonate with the football fans throughout Europe," says Corine Pouvreau-Miles, Client Services Director of The Marketing Store.

In line with this vision, The Marketing Store is investing in local research to create highly targeted and relevant campaigns. For example, it is fielding a research piece to gain a better understanding and knowledge of the Swiss and Austrian football fan - all part of the agency philosophy of "think global, act local".

Corine continues, "Sports Marketing is not the usual cross generation marketing following life cycles, rather it's all about lifestyle. It's all about the fans. It is therefore crucial to understand when you can or can't communicate to fans and how to relate strongly with the target. It's all about emotions."
