SMS: Woolworths in customer control with Kopow!
Even Santa isn't using text yet
Kapow! announced today that national UK retailer Woolworths plc is using Kapow!'s SMS gateway to alert customers that presents and other goods ordered are available to be picked up.
Previously, this sort of service would have required each customer to be called individually, or asked to come back to the store after a certain time. This was a labour-intensive process and could also lead to disappointed customers who came in to collect their goods to find that they hadn't arrived yet. This system is automatic and the SMS to each customer is generated automatically through Woolworths' supply-chain system.
Tony Prescott, multi-channel retail director at Woolworths, said: "Keeping people informed in this way really puts our customers minds at ease about relying on Woolworths to have their presents ready for Christmas. SMS is simple, effective and ties in to our stock systems using Kapow!'s SMS gateway."
Andrew Cowles, Kapow!'s CEO said: "Yet again SMS shows that is the most effective communication tool in use currently. Use of simple technology like this has a hugely positive and positively disproportional effect compared with cost and effort on customer feeling. With regard to Father Christmas, watch this space..."
